According to a report tabled by the African Economic Outlook, on the cumulative sum of commercial inflows into the Africa continent. The total remittance from the diaspora is twice as much as the donor aid to the continent.
The report cited the year 2013, where the aggregate amount of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Portfolio investment and remittances to Africa reached USD 136 billion. This figure is 244% more that the cumulative Official Development Assistance (ODA), which reached a total of USD 56 billion.
For the year 2015, the trend is expected to remain relatively similar, with projections showing the total commercial inflow into Africa reaching USD 138 billion and ODA of USD 55 billion.For more on this, follow this link>>
